Congratulations to WPMA cellist Ethan Goh who at 16-years-old—after winning the DSO’s 2025/2026 Young Artist Concerto Competition—will be performing Schumann’s Cello Concerto in A minor, I. Nicht zu schnell with the Dekalb Symphony Orchestra. Ethan currently serves as the Principal Cellist of the Emory Youth Symphony Orchestra (EYSO), Assistant Principal Cellist of the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra (ASYO), and recently won 3rd chair in the All-State 11/12 Full-Orchestra. Ethan studies with Martin Geuorgiuev at WPMA.

Participating in concerto competitions and similar classical music competitions can be a meaningful part of a student’s musical growth. Preparing for these events requires weeks or months of focused, intentional practice, helping students develop discipline, patience, and a deeper understanding of their repertoire.
