WPMA offers individualized private lessons, music theory, ear training classes and more to prepare students of all ages for competition and auditions. Academy students have gone on to win principal and section positions in top youth orchestras throughout Georgia and have been admitted to top music colleges & universities in the U.S.
At WPMA, technical mastery and musical understanding develop together. Our Theory & Aural Skills Classes strengthen rhythm, pitch accuracy, harmonic awareness, and analytical understanding — directly supporting each student’s private instruction and performance development.
WPMA students participate in chamber music programming to round out their experiences as young musicians. Chamber groups at the academy receive coaching, perform throughout the greater Atlanta area, and have gone on to win top prizes at competitions.
The academy partners with the Atlanta Festival Academy to offer orchestra ensemble opportunities for motivated students. The Atlanta Festival Youth Ensembles present concerts year round, featuring soloists and exciting string and full orchestra repertoire.
In addition to private lessons, WPMA offers various workshops and camps for students throughout the Summer. Students also have the opportunity to participate in the Atlanta Festival Academy for a 10-day Summer festival in July where students work with renown faculty from prestigious pedagogical institutions and orchestras around the globe and perform alongside world-class soloists.
Pre-College offers a comprehensive music program for highly committed string players 8 to 18 years old who exhibit the talent, potential and ambition to pursue advanced music study at the college level.
Every stage is a classroom. From monthly recitals to masterclasses with world-class artists, WPMA students perform early and often.
