Collaborative Pianists

Performance Collaboration

WPMA’s staff collaborative pianists support students in preparing and presenting performances throughout the year. From recitals and competitions to auditions and masterclasses, our accompanists work with students to refine repertoire, develop ensemble awareness, and support confident performances.Available exclusively to WPMA students, these collaborations provide an important part of the academy’s performance training environment.

Rehearsals & Performance Support

Our staff collaborative pianists work with students both in rehearsal and performance settings. Rehearsals take place at WPMA and allow students to prepare repertoire in a collaborative setting before auditions or performances.

Accompanists may also perform with students for:

  • Academy recitals and events
  • Competitions and auditions
  • Masterclasses
  • Recordings and external performances

When Students Work with Collaborative Pianists

Students frequently work with WPMA collaborative pianists for:

  • Student recitals
  • Concerto competitions
  • Guest artist masterclasses
  • Orchestra and youth symphony auditions
  • College auditions
  • Festival preparation
  • Chamber music performances

Students performing in WPMA’s Monthly Spotlight Concerts Series receive complimentary accompaniment for the performance, including a short rehearsal with the pianist earlier in the day.

This provides an accessible opportunity for students to gain performance experience while working with a collaborative pianist.

Students may request a collaborative pianist by completing the Request an Accompanist form.

After the form is received:

  1. The academy forwards the request to available staff accompanists
  2. A pianist will contact the student directly to coordinate rehearsal times
  3. All rehearsals take place at WPMA
  4. Students and pianist coordinate directly for performances
The academy is deeply grateful for the artistry and commitment of our staff collaborative pianists, whose work supports student performances across recitals, competitions, auditions, and masterclasses. Their musical insight and collaborative expertise provide invaluable guidance as students prepare repertoire and develop their performance skills.
