The MTNA Competition
The Music Teachers National Association Competition represents one of the most prestigious music competitions in the United States. MTNA hosts annual competitions that span several age categories and multiple performance categories, including piano, strings, woodwinds, brass, and voice. Students who compete at the state level demonstrate advanced technical skills and artistic interpretation.
Each year, thousands of young musicians across the country participate in these competitions. The structure begins at the state level, where winners advance to divisional rounds and potentially continue to national finals. Judges evaluate performers on technical proficiency, musicality, stage presence, and interpretation of their selected pieces.
